Knowing the damaging effects of artificial snow

Certain skiing resorts use artificial snow when they haven't got enough real snow or when there are a lot of skiers.
Making such machines isn't very good for the environment and the artificial snow pumps don't look good for the landscape.
Also, chemical additives are needed to make artificial snow, which pollutes the ground and a huge amount of water is used.
