Repelling slugs

For repelling slugs and beetle grubs in the garden, cold ash from the fire works wonders.
Confine yourself to approximately a spadeful of ash per square foot of ground.
Repelling the nasty slugs isn't the only virtue of the ash, which also enriches the soil with potassium and phosphorous.
Lacking cold ash, there is always a more 'alcoholic' way to get rid of slugs: in effect it is recommended to place a small container of beer in the garden or greenhouse.
