Building on your child's self-confidence

Has your child finally managed to walk up the stairs, drink from a glass, but his/her coat on his/her own?
If so, the congratulate your child as although these seem like simple things to you, they're not for your child.
If you congratulate your child and tell him/her that your proud, he'll/ she'll gain in self-confidence.
